Whats Covered
The Naturepedic Brand
Naturepedic believes that organic materials are key to creating a healthy sleep environment. Along with Naturepedic’s regular mattress offerings, they offer a line of baby and children’s mattresses, as well as other sleep products such as sheets and pillows . All of Naturepedic’s products are made from organic materials, for which the certifications can be found on their website.
Construction: A Symphony of Organic Materials
The major focus of the construction is the use of organic materials throughout the mattress. The use of organic cotton in the cover as well as the latex comfort layer work together to create an organic mattress for a comfortable sleep environment.
Cover
The cover is made of 100% organic cotton and is pretty soft. I found the material to be breathable, helping with the temperature regulation and cooling of the mattress. I should note that the cover of the EOS Classic is quilted with a layer of soft foam, which provides some initial comfort and pressure relief.
Comfort Layer
Just beneath the cover of the Naturepedic EOS Classic is a 3-inch thick layer of organic latex foam. This layer provides pressure relief and comfort to the sleeper . Latex as a material is known for having a quick response to pressure, giving the mattress some bounce.
Latex foam is also known for its cooling qualities and will help to defend against sleeping too hot. The comfort layer is also aerated to allow increased airflow to improve breathability of the mattress for temperature regulation.
Support Layer
Below the comfort layer is the support center of the mattress, which is made up of 8-inch tall pocket coils. Pocketed coils are individually wrapped, which helps to isolate motion as well as provide some contour to the body. A tall coil layer such as this also creates air space in the mattress, which allows for increased airflow for cooling.
Differences in Construction
As I mentioned before, this review takes a look at the Cushion Firm version, but the EOS Classic does come in a few different firmness options. Naturepedic offers Plush, Cushion Firm, Firm, and Extra Firm firmness levels, and these can be mixed for separate firmness levels on either side of the mattress for queen size and above. There is also the option to create EOS Classic mattresses that do not use latex in Plush, Cushion Firm, and Firm levels.
Firmness: Finding the Right Balance
When first pressing into the mattress, the initial feeling is of the soft quilted cover, which allows you to sink in a bit for pressure relief. Below that, I began to interact with the latex comfort layer and spring support. Both the comfort and support layers have a quick response to pressure, which gives the EOS Classic some bounce so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
People often feel the firmness of a mattress differently because of different body types and weight distributions. Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the Naturepedic EOS Classic, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well. This should give you a better sense of the firmness range you can expect.
The average firmness results from the testers come in at 7/10, with a range of 6.5 – 7.5 out of 10. These ratings are pretty close to each other, meaning there was general agreement from all testers on the overall feel of the EOS Classic. 6.5/10 is generally thought of as medium firmness, so all the testers found the mattress to be pretty close to the middle in terms of overall firmness.
I personally rated the firmness at a 7.5/10 on the scale. I found that the support coils of the mattress and the responsive latex combined to keep me from sinking too far into the Naturepedic EOS Classic. While I felt comfortable lying on this firmness level, you may want to select a more plush level if you sleep on your side.
Pressure Map: Where Comfort Meets Support
Instead of just describing the feel of the EOS Classic, I wanted to give a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points while lying on it. To do this, I placed a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my back, side, and stomach. On the image below pressure will be represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).
When I first lied down on my back, there was low pressure across my entire body. My weight is evenly distributed, and, like the pressure map shows, I didn’t feel any formation of specific pressure points. I found that while I did sink into the quilted cover a little bit, the EOS Classic provided strong support and kept my back in line in this position. Also, the latex comfort layer responded quickly to pressure, so I didn’t feel stuck as I changed positions on the mattress.
Once I rolled onto my side, the pressure map shows increased pressure, which is expected due to the higher weight concentration of a lower surface area. Side sleepers will want to be careful with pressure at the shoulders and hips, which can often be problem areas on firmer mattresses. I’m about 5’10” and 190 lbs and found this mattress to be a little bit firmer than medium, so if you are a bit heavier or strictly sleep on your side you may want to look into one of the plusher levels of the EOS Classic.
My weight is again evenly distributed once I’m on my stomach, and the map shows low pressure across my body again. Strict stomach sleepers often prefer firmer mattresses as they keep their hips from sinking in and putting their backs in a bad position. I found that the EOS Classic had strong support and kept my spine aligned well.
Motion Transfer: Sleeping in Harmony
If you are sharing your bed with a partner, you will want to know what it will feel like when the other person gets into and out of bed or tosses and turns during the night. This next test is helpful in showing the intensity of motion that is detectable from one side of the EOS Classic to the other.
For this test, I dropped a 10 lb steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches, and 12 inches and measured the disturbance on the other side of the mattress. This should be pretty intuitive: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The 4-inch drop simulates someone changing position on the other side of the mattress, and I was a bit surprised by the amount of motion transferred on the EOS Classic. Given the individually wrapped coils and split construction of the support and comfort layers, I thought there would be less motion felt across the mattress. The 8 and 12-inch drops also showed large disturbances, and I could clearly see the waves from the steel ball across the mattress.
If motion transfer is a major concern for you, you may want to look at an all-foam mattress as they are typically better at isolating motion. However, if you and your partner have different preferences in terms of feel and firmness, the ability to customize each side of the mattress could make the EOS Classic a viable option.
Edge Support: Sleep to the Edge
If you plan on sharing your bed with a partner and need to use the entire surface area of the mattress, edge support is something you are going to want to take a look at. Most couples tend to make use of the full surface area of a queen-sized mattress and need to have a consistent feel from edge to edge.
As you can see from the image above, the edge support on the Naturepedic EOS Classic is pretty solid. I didn’t feel as if I were going to fall off the mattress when lying near the side, and I also felt pretty secure when sitting on the side to put on shoes or socks.
Comfort
The Naturepedic Eos Classic excels in delivering comfort. Its super soft quilted cover creates a cool and pleasant sleeping surface, while the natural latex layer offers soft support with bounce and responsiveness. This combination of materials provides excellent support and maintains proper spinal alignment, regardless of your preferred sleeping position .
Whether you’re a side sleeper , back sleeper, or stomach sleeper, the Naturepedic Eos Classic cradles your body, relieves pressure points, and ensures a comfortable night’s sleep. Its latex and coil hybrid construction provides the right balance of softness and support, catering to a wide range of sleeping styles.
Sleeping Hot
If you’ve struggled with sleeping hot on other mattresses, the Naturepedic Eos Classic might be your solution. Its hybrid construction and choice of breathable, cooling materials make it a cool sleeper’s dream.
The latex layer’s natural cooling properties, combined with the organic cotton, wool batting, and PLA material, effectively wick away moisture and promote airflow. The result is a mattress that remains cool to the touch, even on warm nights, without the stickiness often associated with foam-based mattresses.
Sinkage
The Naturepedic Eos Classic impresses with its ability to minimize sinkage, even for heavier sleepers. The latex and coil construction provides strong support, distributing weight evenly across the bed. Edge support is also excellent, preventing any “rolling off” sensation when sleeping near the edges.
While some motion transfer is present due to the latex and coil combination, it is not overly pronounced and should not disrupt your sleep significantly. This mattress strikes a good balance between bounce and motion isolation.
Smell / Off-Gassing
One of the remarkable aspects of the Naturepedic Eos Classic is its lack of noticeable smell upon unboxing. This is attributed to its unique construction, which excludes foam or glue, relying instead on coils, natural latex, wool batting, cotton, and plant-based PLA material. There are no harsh chemicals or VOCs to contribute to chemical smells or off-gassing.
Certified Excellence
When it comes to certifications, Naturepedic takes the cake. Their products proudly bear the GREENGUARD Gold Certification, a third-party testing program that evaluates emissions from consumer products and materials. This certification guarantees that Naturepedic mattresses meet rigorous industry and governmental standards for indoor air quality. Your peace of mind is further solidified knowing that your mattress contributes to a healthier indoor environment.

Should You Buy the Naturepedic EOS Classic Mattress?
The Naturepedic EOS Classic mattress is an excellent choice for environmentally conscious individuals who want a customizable, organic mattress. With its organic cotton cover and latex comfort layer, it offers a healthy and comfortable sleeping surface. However, it may not be the best option for those who are extremely sensitive to motion transfer or prefer a plush mattress.
In conclusion, the EOS Classic is a remarkable mattress that marries comfort, sustainability, and customization. Its thoughtful construction with organic materials ensures a healthier sleeping environment. However, remember that the firmness options are a bit on the firmer side, and it might not be the best choice if you’re a side sleeper or particularly sensitive to motion transfer. But if you’re seeking an eco-friendly and customizable mattress that provides excellent support, the Naturepedic EOS Classic is undoubtedly worth considering.
